YouTube is introduced a new way to make short videos “YouTube Shorts”. YouTube is one of the best online video sharing and social media platforms right now in the world. Being the second best most visited website all over the world, with over one and half million monthly users. It allows you to watch your favourite videos and music you like. Moreover, you can even upload original content and share it with your family, friends and the world. There are so much content available on YouTube such as educational videos, cooking videos, comedy video, movies and much more. Almost everything is available on YouTube.  

Further, YouTube has now introduced a new feature called YouTube Shorts for its users. YouTube Shorts are fundamentally user-generate short or catchy videos. It is a new way to demonstrate yourself in about 15 seconds or less. YouTube creators and artists who want to shoot short, catchy videos will now have fun and an easy way to create shorts. Follow the steps given below to make your own YouTube Shorts video.

Here’s how to make YouTube Shorts

There is one thing you must obtain before making YouTube Shorts. You must download and install the YouTube app on your device.

  1. sign in to the YouTube app on your smartphone (Android or iPhone).

2. Tap on the ‘Create’ icon, which looks like a “+” symbol given in the bottom centre.

3. Next, a pop-up will show on your display. In the pop-up menu, click on the option ‘Create a Short’, which has a camera icon next to it.

Step 4: Now, if you’re using this option for the first time, you’ll need to grant some permissions to allow YouTube to use the camera and microphone on your device.

Step 5: After this done, you’ll be redirect to the YouTube Shorts recording page. YouTube Shorts recording length is set to 15 seconds by default. However, you can change it to 60 seconds by tapping on the number ’15’ given above the record button.

Step 6: Now, tap on the ‘Speed’ icon given on the right side of the page. This allows you to speed up or slow down the recording. Moreover, you can even insert a timer for the camera to start, eliminating the need for you to push the timer manually. Furthermore, you also get the option of adding various visual filters to your recording. Step 7: Click on the ‘Record’ button. You must keep in mind that tapping it again will stop the recording. Therefore, you can tap again to record your next segment in the same video. Also, tapping the ‘Undo’ button given at the bottom will delete only the last segment and not the whole video. Similarly, the ‘Redo’ button will return that segment back to the video.

Step 8: Once you’re done recording, tap the ‘check mark’ icon given on the bottom-right to preview your video. You can even add text, music, and filters. Then, click on the ‘Next’ button.

Step 9: Next, add a title for your video and adjust sharing settings accordingly. You can also add the #shorts hashtag to the title or description to ensure that it is being seen and promote with YouTube’s other Shorts videos.

 Step 10: Last but not least, click on the ‘Upload’ button to add it to your YouTube.

Points to remember

YouTube Shorts videos sholud be shot in a vertical orientation.

You can make YouTube Shorts for up to 60 seconds in length and it can be various 15-second videos combine or one continuous video.

Also, you can use audio from YouTube’s library or other videos, but only for up to 15 seconds.
