The Delhi government has allocated only Rs. 2,500 to install Private Electric Vehicle Charger for light electric vehicles. Including two- and three-wheelers at malls, apartments, hospitals and other such locations in the city.
The announcement was made by Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot while launching a single window facility. Which customers can avail by visiting the respective DISCOM portal or by calling the helpline numbers for installation of private charging stations.
The applicant can visit the portal and see the trusted electric vehicle (EV) chargers which are listed by the government. They can compare the price of this charger and order it online or by phone call.
Moreover, the Delhi government is providing a subsidy of Rs 6,000 to the first 30,000 applicants for charging stations. And bringing the effective cost of each charger to around Rs 2,500 only.
“The incentives given by the Delhi government will reduce the price of chargers by up to 70 per cent,” Gehlot said in a press release.
Installation and operation of electric vehicle (EV) chargers will be complete within seven working days of submission of application.
To take advantage of the reduced EV tariff. Applicants may choose to opt for a new electrical connection (including a pre-paid meter) or continue with an existing connection.
“Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government is moving ahead with Delhi’s journey to become the EV capital of India. Increasing the accessibility of charging infrastructure will remove any doubts and uncertainties before buying an EV,” he said.
Jasmine Shah, vice-chairperson of the Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC), claimed that for the first time in India. A single window facility was being set up in malls, offices, residential societies and colleges to install private chargers.
The tariff rate fixed by the government for electricity consumed by these EV charging points is Rs. 4.5 per unit.
“This is the first time in India that such a simple process for installing an EV charger has been develop and with their extensive installation. Delhi will be the best city in the world in terms of accessibility of EV charging points,” Gehlot insisted.
Furthermore, “Now anyone can install a private EV charger at a cost of just Rs 2,500 connection. We have created a capable environment which will ensure that more and more electric vehicles run on the roads of Delhi in the time to come,” the minister said.
The single-window portal allows the applicant to schedule the installation as per their convenience. They charge Up to Rs 6,000 / – and pay the balance (Rs. 2,500).
Space required for installation of EV charger is minimal.
Only one square foot is require for LEV AC and two square feet for AC 001. DC-001 can be install on land with an area of two square meters and a height of two meters.
Both the LEV AC charger and the AC 001 charger are wall-mount.
A statement from the Department of Transportation said that the Delhi government will issue a LEV AC charger conforming to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) 2021 charging standards within two months of its official notification.
Finally, Private Electric Vehicle Charger are mainly use for charging two and three wheelers. The DC 001 charging standard is mainly use for e-cars used by fleet operators.
