Elon Musk’s Starlink will apply for an Indian license by the end of January


Starlink is the satellite internet division own by the billionaire Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX. Moreover, if the company can launch its services by April, it aims to have 200,000 Starlink devices in India by December 2022, Bhargava said in a presentation posted. The company had earlier said that it come up with 80 percent of these devices to be in rural areas.

Starlink is one of a growing number of companies launching small satellites as part of a low-earth orbit network to furnish low-latency broadband Internet services worldwide. While Starlink has received over 5,000 pre-orders for its devices in India, it has not launched any service.

However, government advised people not to subscribe to Starlink as it does not have license to operate in India. He also warned the company to stay away from booking and providing services.

After that the company has stopped accepting pre-orders for its devices, citing “pending regulatory approvals”, according to its website.

Last month, the company registered a local entity called Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt Ltd. Which paved the way for it to start business in the country.
