KYC is an important step for the Indians who are applying for mobile connections. When switching between postpaid and prepaid network connections. However, the company also provide contactless and secure authentication processes for mobile customers. In this matter, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has now start self-KYC.
Right now, when applying for new connections or when switching between postpaid and pre-paid connections. Customers or Users can require to go to the point-of-sale. And get their KYC done by verify their documents. Moreover, the process could get inconvenient, and in times of the pandemic, safety is a first concern.
Furthermore, to overcome this problem, the DoT has launched self-KYC process. Which can be done via an app or portal-base online process. Customers can apply for new connections from the relief of their home/ office, and the documents for KYC are electronically verified by the UIDAI or DigiLocker.
Last but not least, it is paperless and Telecom Service providers can quickly get the demographic details and customer photo from UIDAI. For each authentication, Telecom Service Providers (TSP) will be charge Rs. 1 per customer.
